      Jean Dowding began a lifelong commitment to public service as an elementary school teacher in Volusia County Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Education from Stetson University.   Jean's thirst for knowledge and passion to educate and empower others led her to excel in several career fields.   As an Educator, she taught life skills in elementary and secondary schools and college classrooms.   In marketing, she provided corporate retail client services and Wall Street institutional investment management.   Jean's military career is deeply rooted in her humble beginnings.  Her parents' work ethic and examples taught her to value a sense of duty; respect for others; personal courage; loyalty and selfless service.   Service is in Jean Dowding’s DNA.   Although her father was never had the right to vote as an American Citizen, he began a family legacy of military service.   He served with honor and distinction in World War II in Europe and was awarded a Purple Heart.   Her brother, served in Vietnam and her younger sister served in the Air Force.   Following in her beloved “Papa’s” footsteps, she served 25 years in the United States Army's Signal Corps; Quartermaster Corps and the Adjutant’s General Corps.     
      Jean is a Realtor Advocate who serves and protects the rights of homeowners in Delaware and across the country.    She has provided the "GPS on Your Road Home" for hundreds of homebuyers and sellers over the past 36 years.   She brings her heartfelt commitment and good energy into any room and greets everyone with the heart of a servant.   Jean Dowding is an "ALL-IN", full-service, community-building Realtor warrior in the Delaware, the state with second highest foreclosure market in the country.   Jean acknowledges God as the architect on her life and believes that seeds of empowerment are planted in our divine DNA.   In her roles as mentor; foster parent and the Central Delaware Honorary Mayor, Dowding launched community initiatives that provided pro bono organizational development services to local businesses and pathways to success for marginalized families and children.  Through her business consulting and civic engagement work, Jean built superb resource connections in her volunteer community outreach service working with non-profit organizations; state legislators; health and human services companies; community civic associations; state and local law enforcement; and veteran and senior services organizations.   Jean serves on the Dover Colonial Rotary Club’s Board of Directors and joins fellow Rotarians in making a difference in local and global communities.   She served on the Board of Trustees as the immediate Past Kent County Development Chair for the Fund for Women at the Delaware Community Foundation.  Through collective philanthropy, the Fund for Women awards grants to non-profit organizations to empower Delaware’s women and girls to reach their full potential. 

       Jean's experience as a Realtor, Veteran and Educator and Marketing professional from "Wall Street to Mainstreet" intersects and overlaps in her constant advocacy for community business owners, early childhood education, veterans, and homeowners.   She is a member of MWAN – Military Women across the Nation – First State Women Warriors; a life member and benefits advocate of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV); Moose International Camden Wyoming DE Chapter #1546; American Legion; the Signal Corps Regimental Corps.  In her focused efforts to make cancer history, Jean launched and funded charitable initiatives “Woman in the Mirror” and “Operation Outreach”.   She mentored at-risk college students and empowered veterans who returned home from combat only to begin waging war with cancer.  She received the Delaware Association of Realtor's Kent County Good Neighbor Award for her work with combat veterans in the fight against breast cancer.   She served on the Governing Board of the Women’s Council of Realtors Sussex County Network as the Vice President of Membership, Board Secretary and Team Leader for the annual fundraiser for Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.  

       Since 1992, Jean Dowding donned her tool belt for Habitat for Humanity - building townhouses in Wilmington and single family homes in Dover.  She remains committed to this "sweat equity" program that empowers economically challenged homeowners.  Jean's hard work and commitment to families in the Delaware State Housing Authority's "Moving to Work" program led families from subsidized government housing to the dream of home ownership.  Jean is a dedicated Realtor professional and remains engaged answering calls to action on County, State, and National Legislative Issues that affect the rights of homeowners and a healthy real estate industry.   She's served  on the Kent County Association of Realtors' Professional Standards; Scholarship; Bylaws; and Professional Development Committees.  She has been nominated 4 times for the Kent County Good Neighbor Award for charitable and community service.  She was the 2017 recipient of the Delaware Association of Realtor’s Good Neighbor Award for her work with combat veterans.

       A Veteran Defending the Defenders – With 25 Years Military Service – (Active Duty Army and Delaware Army National Guard) Jean Dowding, lives the Soldier's Creed and honors her commitment to "leave no comrade behind" by working confidentially and compassionately with disabled, displaced and marginalized veterans and seniors struggling to re-enter society and the workforce post deployments, cancer therapies; and vocational training.   

     Her Realtor slogans “Dowding Dedication Delivers Delaware Dreams” and “GPS on Your Road Home” capture 30 Years of unwavering commitment serving homebuyers and sellers in Delaware and across the nation.   Since 1982, Jean has been a strong voice for the communities she serves.  She is always advocating for safe, decent, affordable housing and protecting homeowners' rights.  Jean Dowding provided “GPS” (that's Great Professional Service) connecting resources, education, and businesses to hundreds of families in communities in Central Delaware, across the state, and the nation.  

     Other Professional experience includes her work in New York City as a Marketing Associate with Continental Can Company and Investment Management Wall Street Stockbroker with Merrill Lynch Pierce, Fenner & Smith and Thomson McKinnon Auchincloss Kohlmeyer.   Honors include Commandant's List Honor Graduate from the United States Army Sergeant's Major Academy(USASMA); Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities; Who’s Who Among American High School Students; Outstanding Young Women of America (National Association of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs);  Who's Who of U.
